Irada Akhoundova, PresidentIrada was born in Baku, Azerbaijan and has been actively involved with HBSCA since early 2005, first as Senior VP and then as HBSCA President since 2006. After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree from Baku State University and completing Extended Psychology studies at the Center for Psychological Studies in Baku, she began her career in 1988 as a High School Counselor and Language Instructor at one of the main high schools in Baku. Her primary professional experience is in education, languages, cross cultural orientation and project/event management. She is fluent in English, Russian and Azeri, and has life and work experience in various countries, including Azerbaijan, Spain, Saudi Arabia and the United States. She is married and has one daughter. |
Riad Efendi, Vice-President
Dr. Efendi was born in 1970 in Baku, Azerbaijan and graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology with a PhD in Biophysics. He has been holding safety/security/emergency response managing positions throughout the world as well as two university faculty appointments. Currently he holds a position of North America Regional HSE Manager for a major oil/gas construction company. He has served on the HBSCA Board of Directors since 2005. He is interested in history, literature, bridge, crossfit and is an active member of the intellectual games club of Houston.
Saida Haqvergi-Fagala, Vice-President
Graduated from the Baku State Art college in 1977, Graduated from the Baku State Institute of Fine Arts
and Culture in 1983.
Hold master’s degree in fine arts- MFA.
Texas certified Art’s teacher
Was working in Industrial and Creative manufactory, Baku, Azerbaijan –
Ceramic section1983-1996 as an artist
Became a member of a Union if Soviet Artists in 1990
Participated in various exhibitions, local and foreign.
In 1998 moved to the United States and reside in Houston, Texas.

Currently, she works as a controller for a local property investment company. She has lived in Houston since 2007. She is married and has 2 children. |
