Representatives of the Houston Baku Sister City Association joined Houston Mayor Annise Parker, Mayor Pro Tem Edward Gonzalez, City Councilmembers Ellen Cohen, Melissa Noriega, Jack Christi, Jerry Davis and Andrew Burks, as well as representatives of Houston’s large international community and Consular Corps at Houston’s City Hall today for the announcement and executive signing of the City’s Language Access Program which will translate essential information for public consumption.
Over the next six months, this program will translate vital information regarding key city services and disaster related information in the event of an emergency, such as a hurricane or home gas leak into the five most spoken, non-English or Spanish, languages in Houston.
We were proud to be invited be a part of this events and present to witness the signing of this progressive document which will add to the reasons why Houston is one of the most diverse and international cities in the United States.
